If your mare fits our simple criteria, we will enter into a Foalshare
Agreement which offers many advantages to you, the mare owner.
What is our Criteria?
Our basic commercial philosophy is that the mare must be in the
top 25% of those Mares being served by the selected stallion, on pedigree.
(This philosophy relates to our mares as well as our potential foal
shares.)
Which Stallions are Available?
Segenhoe Stud does not stand stallions but holds nominations
to most of the premium stallions in the Hunter Valley. Please contact
us for an up to date list of available nominations.
How does Foalshare work?
- Segenhoe Stud enters a Foalshare Agreement with you, the
broodmare owner. For a copy of this Agreement, please click
here.
- Your mare will be “walked out” from Segenhoe Stud to the
relevant stallion for service. When she goes in foal, Segenhoe will
pay the stallion service fee. We will own the resulting foal 50/50 with
you.
- After the jointly owned foal is weaned, it will be reared at Segenhoe
and consigned to sale by Segenhoe Stud (as agent)
- You will meet all costs relating to your mare, other than the service
fees. We will share the expense of rearing and selling the jointly owned
foal, on a 50/50 basis with you. We will also share the net proceeds
of sale equally. It’s that simple.
The advantages
- Upgrade your matings.
- Preserve your cash flow.
- Enhance your potential returns by accessing the Segenhoe client
base.
